About Kwong Village

Kwong Village is one of the chinese restaurants listed in Detroit, Michigan. The business is registered at 6600 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48210; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Detroit; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Michigan are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12–10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Kwong Village at (313) 897-8789; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 286 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. Getting around Detroit is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Michigan's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I was honestly a little nervous walking into this hole-in-the-wall spot but you already know that usually means it’s about to be really good. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch combo (about $9.15, cash only), and wow… everything was fresh and flavorful. This was my first time trying it since my usual spot was closed on a Monday, and I’m so glad I did. The chicken pieces were big, juicy, and real.. none of that weird fatty stuff. The guy behind me said he’s been coming here since he was 5 years old, which says a lot. Only reason for 4 stars is the shrimp fried rice only had about 3 pieces of shrimp, but it was still delicious regardless. I’ll definitely be back!

BEWARE!! I ordered two #4’s at $11.95, a #3 at $12.25, and a #6 at $12.25, a small shrimp chop suey at $8.95, with 4 little cups of hot oil sauce at .50 cents each,PLUS I was also charged an additional $2 to change the chicken fried rice into shrimp fried rice (even though the menu says all combination dinners already comes with shrimp fried rice). I was charged $70 even, and told on the phone to only bring cash, and I was not given a receipt. My order should have only been $65 and change. It wasn’t until I got home, and realized I was cheated. When I bought the price discrepancy to the owner she said we grabbed the wrong menu, and that they have new prices EXCEPT the menu we took was from the only stack of menus they had out for the customers. The lady that answers the phone(with the one hand) is the person who cheats customers and never gives a receipt, and if she does give a receipt it never matches the prices on their menu. Also they have no prices listed online. That’s, because they’re cheating customers. BEWARE!!

I’m really disappointed with my experience here. The food was not hot at all. The rice looked and tasted like it had been sitting out all day, and the egg rolls were cold. Even the duck sauce tasted off, which was concerning.

I don't want to leave a bad review for a place I haven't been able to try, but this place never ever seems to be open when I go there. It is 12:30 and they say that they are open at 12:00 on Google. This is fine if they want to publish their hours but make them accurate. I'm not down here often and wanted to make a pretty sizable order. But no one answered the phone no hours are updated on Google. I actually physically stopped by the location, and there was a very old faded sign that says 3:00 p.m. however it is so faded I can't tell what day it says 3:00 p.m. for opening. The businesses down here in Detroit would do a lot better if they tried a little harder.

I always go get the two meat combination, no egg roll extra rice! I get this at least once a week, sometimes even more. That’s how great their food be!!!!! I’ve been going since a little girl with my mom and family. I like how they haven’t changed a bit!!!
